Vow of Celibacy

News about priests being involved in sex scandals have rocked the Vatican and the entire Catholic faithful. I am particularly concerned at how our priests are acting nowadays. I have been a seminarian. I thought I would end up being a priest but I decided to go out of the seminary after two years of praying and asking for guidance as to where my life was heading.

I have nothing against priests committing sins. Priests are also human beings. And as such, are vulnerable to temptations, leading them to commit sins. I even had a lady neighbor who was a witness to actuations of our parish priest several years back but I just closed my eyes and prayed that the priest be guided.

And now the news about this priest in Pardo who died inside a downtown motel. While it was not established if the priest had spent time with a woman (or women as there were allegedly two women hurriedly going out of the motel after reporting the death of the priest to the front desk) but the question that everyone wants to ask is: "What was the priest doing in a motel?".

Church facilities include living spaces for priests. And so, what was Father doing in the motel starting at 5:30 p.m.? Did he need rest? He could have gone to a much classier pension house or hotel. Or better yet, asked his driver to drive him back to the church and sleep instead of dropping off downtown all by himself.

The priest was found dead inside his motel room after two young women reported to the front desk that the man occupying the said room had difficulty breathing. The women then vanished. Who were those young women then? And how did they know Father had difficulty breathing if they did not enter the room of the priest? And why were they gone so quick?

Questions remain unanswered and the family of the priest is asking for some privacy. Well, the priest is now with his creator, if he is. For now, some questions are better left unanswered to protect a man's dignity although in the mind of the public, those questions have already been answered.
